This weekend as we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus, I’m sharing various newsy items with all of you. First, I want to thank our parishioners who have made a donation or pledge to the 2018 Bishop’s Appeal. We recently achieved our parish goal! $80,124 has been raised in donations and pledges and $51,164 has been collected. Let’s continue to fulfill our pledges so that we actually achieve or surpass our parish goal. It’s not too late to make a donation or pledge to the Bishop’s Appeal. All monies collected by the end of the year which exceed our goal come back to us for use in our many parish programs.
Congratulations to our teenagers who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend. A big thank you to the Very Reverend George Mockel, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Oakland, who is celebrating this sacrament with us on Saturday evening. To the Confirmandi, we are overjoyed to share this sacrament with you. The Holy Spirit is now with you in a very special and personal way. We pledge our support to you and your families in your continuing walk of faith.
Congratulations to all mothers on this Mother’s Day. Moms, you do so much for your children and your families. It’s only right that you should have a special day recognizing your sacrifices and devotion to your families. God bless you. I always remember on this day those women who for whatever reason were not able to have children. For some of you, this day is a bit of a heartache. We remember you in our prayers this Mother’s Day as well.
In this issue of the bulletin you will find an update on our 2015 Capital Campaign. Thank you to the hundreds of families who have donated and pledged to this ongoing campaign. With your help we have completed nearly all our capital campaign projects. In this overview you will find that we have managed our capital campaign and our expenditures very well, even as we discovered in the permitting process that the City of Dublin would require us to build two items which we did not budget for: a trash enclosure building and a rain runoff purification system. These two items costed over $220,000 and are included in the list of our completed projects. After paying our outstanding obligations we expect to have an additional $72,000 will be applied to resurfacing the parish parking lot. It is very important for us to fulfill our outstanding capital campaign pledges. If you are able, please make a donation to the capital campaign (which can be done online) to be applied toward the balance of the parking lot resurfacing project.
This Saturday we have a special day for our Altar Servers. We will be explaining a new program to help recognize outstanding service among our Altar Servers. We will also be training new Altar Servers for boys and girls 5th grade and up. The meeting is at 9:30am on May 19th in the church and will be followed by a hamburger and hot dog lunch provided by our Knights of Columbus. All current Altar Servers are recommended to attend this special day for you.
Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday – the ‘birthday’ of the Church. Wear red! Come Holy Spirit! us!
Finally, Saturday June 9th at 8:00 pm St. Raymond is hosting The New Choir under the direction of Eileen Chang. This will be a sacred choral music concert you are certain to enjoy. The New Choir will be performing some of the best sacred choral music from Handel, Faure, Mendelsson, Rossi and others. Parishioners will received a special ticket price of $15 for advance purchases. A portion of the ticket price will benefit the parish. Bring your family and invite your friends. You’ll be blessed by this performance, I am sure.
Be assured of my prayers for you!
