I was so privileged and proud to be part of the amazing Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner in Moran Hall on Thanksgiving Day afternoon. Preparations began days before as a core of 200 volunteers from St. Raymond, the local Mormon Church and other area churches got ready for this 6th annual dinner for anyone in need in our Tri-Valley. The parish hall was beautifully decorated with the Thanks- giving theme. Oranges, reds and yellows splashed the walls and hand-colored place mats from St.
Raymond school students sat at each place setting. The tables had festive cloth table cloths, centerpieces and real silverware, glasses
and stoneware. Only the best for the 275 people who came to share a delicious home-cooked meal, warm hospitality and live entertainment.
It is humbling to be among so many good people who decided to give up part or most of their Thanksgiving
afternoon to serve any- one and everyone in the name of Jesus our Lord. Greeters welcomed our guests at the door, others got them seated, still others gave
them a menu of delicious foods and drink to choose from, still others served up their plates and brought them to them—all the while a tireless crew in the kitchen continued to prepare the food while others took care of cleaning the used dishes. What an organizational feat! Our guests included elderly persons, disadvantaged families, the homeless, the unemployed and the underemployed. They were all treated with love and care, befitting the children of God that they are.
This last weekend we heard the gospel message from Jesus speaking of feeding the hungry, “When you did it to the least of these you did it to me” (Mt 25:40). Truly, all those who contributed can be proud of their service to Jesus present in our guests.
Thank you to all those who helped contribute to this wonderful event. God knows who you are and it is He, too, is grateful for you. You are a blessing to us. God bless you!
Sincerely in Christ,
